The King’s like many other Southeast Texans have survived and endured multiple events that have strengthened their resolve and faith in their community and employees. Their first trial was the sudden death of Mr. Aubrey Raiford in 1994, Patti’s father and the family patriarch. Aubrey was the founder of Honest Aubrey’s used cars in 1943 and later channeled this success into Energy Country Ford Lincoln Mercury. About 36 months after Patti’s father passed away the store suffered a devastating fire that gutted most of the dealership. They spent the next three years selling cars from temporary trailers before building one of the area’s largest and most dynamic dealerships. In 2005 Hurricane Rita struck, Energy Country suffered in excess of a million dollars worth of damage. Then again last fall Hurricane Ike wrecked havoc on the operations. Just like many Southeast Texan’s, the Kings and Energy Country have struggled back and continue to provide new and pre-owned sales as well as a first class parts, service, body shop and Quick Lane.
